4x4 Arctic Off-road Expedition "Over the Edge"

The start of this off-road expedition is similar to the "End of Kola" expedition. After exploring the White Sea coast and crossing the dense forests to the center of the Kola Schierleiland we end up in a valley of Khibiny Tundra. Here many participants of other expeditions wonder what is on the other side of the mountains. With this expedition we are going over the edge. There is a unique nature paradise where hardly anyone can come. This is not for everyone, because you and your car have to be ready for this. Perseverance and a well-prepared car are needed to reach the end point. During the expedition you can not escape the facts of the Stalin era. We come across the remains of prison camps (GULAG), roads and railways to which people had to work until death. In short, get ready to participate in this expedition.
For a succesful expedition we advise not to plan earlier than middle of August, due to water levels in rivers and lakes. From late August a flaming golden autumn starts which incredible colours, like the painting "Who's Afraid of Red, Yellow and Blue" from Barnett Newman. Also it is mostly certain to see the northern lights dancing in the sky.
We organize this unique Arctic Off-road tour from middle of August until end of September.

The meeting point is Kandalaksha. From there we start exploring the White Sea Coast. On muddy forest tracks where broken bridges mean that we have to make a detour into the sea, long beach driving, through sand dunes to half deserted villages. On the way we visit an ancient stone labyrinth dated 2000 years B.C. Then it’s a 100km drive north into the endless forest, through mud, rivers, overflowing bogs and not a sign of civilisation in all that way. Through a valley of Khibiny Tundra we crawl up to the top of a pass and we have to pass "the Rock" that tries to push you into a deep abyss full of water. Only 4x4 cars and light 4x4 trucks can pass this rock. Once over the edge the landscape changes into a unique nature paradise with breathtaking panorama's over the endless Tundra's, crystal clear lakes with exotic beaches, where we spend the nights. Over swampy forest trails along rivers and lakes, wading through deep rivers and winching through the marshes we drive up to the summit of Lovozero Tundra (1200 meter). A lot of surprises are waiting for you. That's why it is classified as an expedition. The expedition ends up in Worlds biggest city above the Arctic Circle: Murmansk. From there you can continue in all directions, to Finland, Norway or Saint Petersburg. For more details, please contact us.
