Kola Travel hiking holidays: Backpack trekkings and hiking tours through Monche tundra, Lovozero and Khibiny mountains in Russian Lapland on Kola Peninsula, Northwest Russia.

The Kola Peninsula, with its mountains and lakes, forests and tundra, is an ideal region to explore on foot. And camping - preparing meals over open fires, falling asleep to the sound of wind in the pines - is the perfect way of getting in touch with this wonderful land - and with yourself as well. We offer more day backpack trekkings on the Kola Tundra's for experienced hikers.

The paths/track are quiete rough and you need good equipment/shoes suitable for these tracks (class C). The overnights are in tents. We can provide you with lightweight tents and sleeping mattresses.

Our packages include not only hiking and camping, but also transferS (sometimes by boat), and visits to several significant cultural, historical and archaeological sites on the Kola Peninsula.

Characteristic of the Kola Peninsula are three completely different tundra areas, namely:

• Khibiny Tundra: a mountain fairyland with mountains of fantastic shapes and colours. Get in touch with its summits, passes and ravines.
• Lovozero Tundra: Travel with us to the mystic places on a shore of Saint Lake where a dancing shaman is watching you from the rock; or to ancient sacred spot - Petroglyphs "Fellsbilder" ancient rock carvings in the heart of Lovozero tundra.
• Monche Tundra: The virgin forests, magnificent mountains, desolate tundra, majestic waterfalls, and clear rivers and lakes will leave an indelible impression upon you. Enjoy the bright and pure colours of the far north in Monche mountain-mass.
