During this holiday you hike 4 days in the North west part of the Khibiny Tundra, through old forests, deep valleys and old ravines with small rivers and a beautiful waterfall. On the with reindeers moss covered tops of the tundra you will see the magnificent panoramas over the biggest lake of the Kola Peninsula lake Imandra and more far in the west the Monche Tundra. Of course you will spend the nights in tents and make campfires. Before and after the tour you will stay in a good hotel in Monchegorsk.

Level: Experiences in hiking in stony areas. Good physical condition and capabilities to carry rucksack (approximately 17 kg).

Price includes:  Accommodation (breakfast included), boat and bus transport, three meals a day during hiking tours, two restaurant dinners, visa invitation, guide and interpreting services, medical insurance which includes a helicopter evacuation in emergency case.
Documents:  Passport must be valid at least 6 months after date of return. A Russian visa is required for tourists from most countries. See your country’s Russian consulate or embassy for details. We handle the tourist invitation.
Insurance:  The participant must possess medical insurance that at very least covers the European part of the Russian Federation.

Hiking holiday in Khibiny Mountains

Day 1: Arrive in Monchegorsk. Hotel check-in upon arrival. Guide will come to the hotel in the evening to meet you and check equipment. Dinner in a restaurant. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 2: Breakfast at the hotel. Travel by motor-boat down Imandra Lake to Imandra Station (10 km). From there hike along the northern slopes of the Khibiny Tundra as far as Manepahkuai Brook. Manepahkuai Brook means "Egg Mountain" it is white and round like real egg. Overnight in tents close to Manepahkuai Brook. Distance of hike: 10 km.

Day 3: Hike 4 km along brook to the peak of Manepahk (845m ASL). The length of ascent is 4 km. The magnificent vista to Imandra Lake and the Kuna River valley can be seen from the peak. Descend the south slope to Lidichiok River (2 km). Follow the river downstream for 4 km, and camp in forest not far from Meridian Stream. Distance of hike: 10 km.

Day 4: Follow the left tributary of Meridian Stream up to Yumyekorr Pass, a narrow pass squeezed between two rock cliffs. Yumyekorr means Ravine of Dead Men. According to legend the Saami battled Swedes here at the end of the 16th century. Proceed down to Aku-Aku Ravine, and make camp. Distance of hike: 8 km.

Day 5: Explore Aku-Aku Ravine. The Ravines entrance is guided by tall pine-trees and the walls look like an old broken castle. There is a picturesque lake among the cliffs, and numerous streams - one with a small waterfall, and lonely standing rocks like trolls. Hike back through forest along Yumyekorruai River to Imandra Lake, and then return by motor-boat to Monchegorsk. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Distance of hike: 8 km.

Day 6: Breakfast at the hotel. Departure.
